* Ridge Meadows Rivers DayRidge Meadows Rivers Day Time: 12:00 pm BC Rivers Day is a province-wide event that began in 1980. Every year on the last Sunday in September communities and community groups across the province host events designed to connect citizens with their local rivers and BC’s spectacular river heritage. The aim is to raise public awareness and understanding about our rivers, the benefits they provide and the everyday threats to their survival.
The Ridge Meadows event is a free community event that celebrates the waterways and watersheds in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Nestled among the large cedars of Allco Park and along the banks of the south Alouette River, the Rivers Heritage Centre and Allco Fish Hatchery provide a perfect venue for individuals and families to reconnect with nature, wildlife and our local environment.
Every year the Ridge Meadows Rivers Day features local musicians performing throughout the day, a children’s fish pond filled with Rainbow Trout for youth to catch with expert advice and training from the BC Drift Fishers, nature tours, and many interactive environmental displays from local community groups. You won’t want to miss the fantastic barbeque put on by BC Corrections staff, the fish painting with the Alouette River Management Society, or the mystery items involved in our raffle.
As this is our 17th year hosting a BC Rivers Day event, we have figured out the recipe for FUN and can't wait to see you there! |
